What Have I Done?

What Have I Done?

Overview

The greatest heroes on Earth band together to combat an unthinkable danger.

The plot

Before...

Angstrom Levy, who had just been killed by Invincible, was barely conscious and had enough strength to transport himself to a different world where three scientists would rescue and repair him.

Day I

Opening portals and letting all of the Alternate Invincibles pass through is how Angstrom starts his scheme.  In order to make everyone in the world see, fear, and despise Invincible, he gives them instructions to do as much destruction as they can and promises them anything they want.  Eve gets a call from Payton Penitentiary, which is being attacked by Mohawk Invincible, while Mark and Eve are lounging at Mark's house.  Cynically, he makes fun of the establishment for being a "prison."

A hero is being overpowered by Target Invincible in front of the White House while he calls him pathetic and declares that he would not accept him as a slave in his empire.  After spending a lot of time in Viltrumite Prison, prisoner Invincible is attacking Moscow and confronting a hero there while saying he needs a warm-up.  When Viltrum Invincible fights Wolf-Man, he even admits that he has already killed him and will do it again.  Tech Jacket is fighting Mustache Invincible in the atmosphere of Earth, while Sinister Invincible is fighting Best Tiger in China.

Soon after, the mainline Invincible arrives at Payton Penitentiary, where he finds himself battling a version of himself who did this.  After learning that he is the Invincible of this universe, Mohawk Invincible initially believed that Invincible was one of his allies.  After fighting his variant, Invincible finally beats him by slamming his fists into his ears.  But before attacking Invincible, Knockout, Kid Thor, and Bolt appear, mistakenly believing him to be one of the variants.  Powerplex flees the chaos, initially relieved to see other heroes beating up Invincible, only to be confronted by Mohawk Invincible, who effortlessly defeats Powerplex.

The combined strength of Invincible, Kid Thor, Knockout, and Bolt ultimately defeated Mohawk Invincible, to which Bolt reassures Invincible that they can handle things from here.  Bolt and Kid Thor attempt to restrain Mohawk Invincible as he joins Atom Eve to investigate this disaster, Knockout, but he recovers and removes them from the screen.

During the ensuing chaos, Debbie, Oliver, April, Amber, Kyle, William, and Rick watch the news broadcast as numerous people resembling Invincible attack major cities worldwide, completely overwhelming local and government forces.  After putting on his Kid Omni-Man outfit, Oliver is resolved to assist in the battle against the malevolent duplicates, but Debbie warns him not to go back inside if any of the Alternate Marks show up.

Cecil and Donald witnessed a gang of Reanimen viciously assault Flaxan Invincible at the US Penitentiary.  The fight left Donald's skin damaged and Cecil hurt.  Donald disclosed during this tumultuous scene that the team thought Flaxan Invincible and other people from other dimensions were Mark variations, meaning there were eighteen of them worldwide. Luckily, Flaxan Invincible lacked the main timeline's Invincible's strength.  Cecil gave Donald instructions to have the scientists make new noisemakers because the old one was broken.  But Donald told him that they had destroyed the engineering room.  He inquired about the team's approach to the situation, worried about their reaction.  They would "make calls to everyone" and recruit all the heroes to deal with the different Marks, Cecil retorted.

Day II

As the war continued on Day 1, Brit started directing heroes into the transporters. Heroes like Business Baby, Throwbolt, Hunk, Two Punch Man, and many more entered the transporter to fight the Evil Invincibles.

Before he notices someone he believed to be invincible, Kid Omni-Man picks up a piece of debris to save a man.  Kid Omni-Man, however, halted as he approached and saw Cowl Invincible directly.  After defeating Kid Omni-Man, Cowl Invincible flies beneath the variant's leg and punches him in the back before threatening to kill the boy with a piece of rubble until he recovers.  Until Throwbolt and another hero show up to help Oliver battle the Alternate Mark, Cowl Invincible approaches Kid Omni-Man with the intention of punishing him for that attack.

Atomic and Unbeatable  Eve tells Mark that things are bad and that there are Alternate Marks everywhere as she flies across the city, destroying buildings and killing many. She then suggests that they eliminate the variants one by one before figuring out who is to blame, but Invincible reveals that he knows Angstrom Levy is behind it all.  Mark and Eve see Veil Invincible fighting a group of heroes at that precise moment.  Despite the heroes' ability to draw blood, it was insufficient because Veil Invincible simply dispatches them by slamming the ground, demonstrating that they are merely a small portion of his power. Both Invincible and Atom Eve flies in and the pair overpowered Veil Invincible before Omni-Mark joins in. Veil Invincible teels Omni-Mark to leave rudely only for Omni-Mark to coldly reply that swearing doesn't make him cool. Invincible tells Atom Eve to leave but she refuses, leaving him battling Veil Invincible while her facing off Omni-Mark. During the battle, Atom Eve gets overwhelmed by Omni-Mark until Invincible saves her by throwing Veil Invincible at him. Invincible holds up Atom Eve as Omni-Mark gave him an ultimatium, knowing that Invincible cannot save his girlfriend and fight off his Evil Variants at the same time. However, Cecil unleashes a bunch of Reanimen to attack Veil Invincible and Omni-Mark, buying them time and he tells Mark through a drone to bring Eve to the hospital for treatment. Donald then asks Cecil to send him out as he feel like he could do more out there than in here, to which Cecil reluctantly agrees and tell him to find Brit. Invincible then spent the rest of the war staying next to Atom Eve.

When the Spectre tries to take possession of Ka-Hor's body in Egypt, Lensless Invincible smashes through his tomb.  Immortal looks on in disbelief as Lensless Invincible escapes Ka-Hor's hold and takes to the skies to launch another assault.  After being released from their captivity, Ka-Hor crawls back down with Riley carrying Jane out of the tomb while screaming that he cannot survive outside of it.

Presumably after defeating Best Tiger off-screen, when he declares that he killed the Omni-Man in his dimension and would not be vanquished by that hero, Sinister Invincible was seen fighting a lizard theme hero.

Maskless Mark easily pushes Hunk across the sand during their wrestling match in the desert before killing him.

Using their cooperation, Business Baby and Big Mildew battled Target Invincible in Paris for a while before Big Mildew defeated Business Baby in the battle against the Invincible variant.

In a neighborhood, Long Hair Invincible was observed murdering two heroes.

Black Samson and Shapesmith lay wounded at the Guardians of the Globe base, surrounded by numerous Dupli-Kate clone corpses.  Lensless Invincible compliments Darkwing II and The Immortal, laughing off their attacks.  When Darkwing II throws Immortal over his shoulder, he falls from the sky, but Lensless Invincible catches him by the heel and throws him to the ground, which breaks his leg.  The Immortal flies in and beats Lensless Invincible, calling him a weak imitation of Invincible, because he is furious about his teammate's injury.  But after dismissing the blows with a laugh, Lensless Invincible punches Immortal to the ground. Before facing The Immortal, Lensless Invincible easily dispatches two of Dupli-Kate's clones, exposing that Shapesmith wasn't even there and that the Omni-Man in his world has murdered numerous heroes. After making fun of Shapesmith, Lensless Invincible is struck by The Immortal. Before eliminating The Immortal, Lensless Invincible angrily informs him that he "ruined the moment" and then goes on to defeat him. Before hurling his head to kill a Dupli-Kate clone and leaving it rolling next to an injured Dupli-Kate, Lensless Invincible decapitates The Immortal with his foot.

Lensless Invincible complains that he always ends fights too soon, which means there is no fun, no screaming, and no torture.  Darkwing II, fortunately, intervenes and sacrifices himself by dragging Lensless Invincible into the Shadow Realm, where the monsters devoured both of them.  Shapesmith and Black Samson both awoke, and the medics quickly bandaged the team.

Retro Invincible has vanquished Monster Girl and Rex Splode in the Teen Team Base by destroying Robot's drones.  Robot's human body was soon discovered by Retro Invincible, but Bulletproof entered and attacked him before he could kill him.  Bulletproof is pummeled by Retro Invincible in retaliation.  As Rudy rolls across the floor during the battle between Bulletproof and Retro Invincible, he discovers Amanda unconscious but breathing.  When Rex awakens, he is bleeding from an open wound he sustained earlier.  Just as Retro Invincible sends Bulletproof crashing backfirst, Rudy tells Rex that they must leave and get Amanda out of here. Before asking Bulletproof to get everyone out, Rex assures him that he has a plan and says that they would be better off with someone who can fly.  Rex is left to deal with the Alternate Mark alone after Bulletproof dutifully flies Rudy and Amanda away.  When Retro Invincible sarcastically says, "This is stupid," Rex Splode responds, "Everything about this is stupid."  When Rex Splode tries to battle Retro Invincible, the variant overwhelms him.  While holding Rex by the neck, Retro Invincible tells him that everything is meaningless, just like his life. He then threatens to pop his head off and kill the others.

As Retro Invincible rants about how stupid he is compared to the Rex Splode of his world, Rex starts to hold onto his wound, but he eventually admits that he is the one who will take him with him.  Then, at the cost of his own life, Rex charges up his skeleton and executes a suicide bombing, killing Retro Invincible.  Rudy, Bulletproof, and Shrinking Rae watch it happen.

After leaving her house, where she fortunately escaped a confrontation with Mohawk Mark, Debbie keeps an eye on the news for updates from Paul's home.

After Target Invincible destroyed the Upstate University campus, William and Rick were spotted sprinting across the flaming conflagration.  William almost gets hit by debris, but fortunately Rick's cybernetic body's increased strength saved him.  The pair were observed trembling.

When the Wolf-Man emerges from his battle with Viltrium Invincible, he finds himself standing in the middle of Sinister Mark's devastation.

CW  Mark was murdered by an unidentified hero.

As he grieves for his teammate, Burly is seen sobbing and embracing Shrapnel.

Amid the devastation, Brit rescues Donald, who is still alive but has severe injuries.

A group of Reanimen killed Bulletproof Invincible.

Another city is being destroyed by Mohawk Mark.

Later in the day, Kid Omni-Man and Throwbolt, who were transporting an injured heroine away following a very trying battle, killed Long Hair Invincible.

In a sense, Powerplex triumphs over carrying out his retaliation by standing over a dead Invincible Variant.

After defeating Mustache Invincible in combat, Tech Jacket is seen looking down on Earth in the atmosphere before descending, presumably to visit his loved ones or lend a hand in the conflict.

Day III

The remaining variations, such as Sinister Invincible, Viltrum Invincible, Mohawk Invincible, Maskless Invincible, Target Invincible, Prisoner Invincible, Omni-Invincible, and Dark Invincible, float over the destroyed cities before Angstrom Levy calls a meeting over the Grayson's house to proceed to Phase 2 of his plan, even though CW Invincible, Mustache Invincible, Long Hair Invincible, Light Invincible, Cowl Invincible, Veil Invincible, Bulletproof Invincible, Retro Invincible, Lensless, and Flaxan Invincible have all died.

Omni-Invincible says he detests returning to this house when the other eight variants gather over their former home.  Dark Invincible, on the other hand, disagrees, telling him that not all of them have killed their Debbie and that he actually enjoyed being in the house. Mohawk Mark then groans impatiently and angrily about why Angstrom is taking so long, and as if on cue, Angstrom shows up and says he likes to make an entrance.  In his laudatory remarks, Angstrom Levy claims that the Alternate Marks not only destroyed Invincible's world but also him, and that the attack would cause everyone to recall the conflict when they hear his name. Angstrom then gives the Alternate Marks instructions to bring Invincible to him so that he can repay him in person. However, Sinister Mark and the other variants refuse to comply, claiming that his scheme has caused the Alternate Marks to lose the majority of their members. To Sinister Mark, Mohawk Mark sarcastically responds that he doesn't give a damn and that those variants were eliminated due to their weakness. Then Target Invincible enters and informs Angstrom that they made a deal with him, but he hasn't paid them yet. According to Dark Invincible, Mohawk Mark taunts him for missing his "mommy" after Angstrom assured him that he would find him a Debbie.

Dark Invincible tells him that they are all the same person and he's not the only one. The Alternate Marks shares glances and Unmasked Mark even admits he misses the William of his dimension. But Sinister Mark doesn't care, telling them that all of this would be pointless if they are all dead. He and the Alternate Marks faces Angstrom with Sinister Mark threatening him to give them their dimensions they want otherwise they would all kill him. Mohawk Mark tells him that if they kill Angstrom Levy, they would be stuck in the main timeline, even suggesting to torture Angstrom to which all the other variants agreed. But before any of the Alternate Invincibles could kill him, Angstrom Levy opens his portal, startling them long enough for him to summon his drones and send them into the desert planet he trapped the Mainline Mark in before.

When Sinister Mark screams that he's dead after being sent to that dimension, Mohawk Mark annoys him by telling him that he can't hear him. Angstrom Levy expresses his disappointment, saying that while he wasn't surprised that the Alternate Marks would betray him, he didn't anticipate that they would do it sooner. Cecil then teleported the Mainline Invincible to face Angstrom, where Angstrom attacks Invincible with his drones and reveals that he has surgeons on hand to treat him if Invincible becomes too much for him.

As they continue their battle, Invincible avoids the portals, impressing Angstrom Levy, who then attacks him with his drones.  He promises to bring Invincible back after he destroys everything he holds dear, while Angstom Levy uses hordes of drones to force him into a portal.  Just as the portal opening villain's drones were starting to gradually run out of numbers, Invincible became enraged and overpowered them, closing in on Angstrom Levy. Then, as Kid Omni-Man shows up, Invincible seizes Angstom Levy and orders his brother to murder him before he can get away in order to hold him accountable for the lives he has destroyed.  However, that is before Invincible can.  Invincible was distracted long enough for Angstrom Levy to open a portal after he was hit in the head by one more drone.  Mark reaches out and grabs Angstrom's arm, but his arm is sliced off when the portal closes.  Oliver approaches his brother and tells him how disgusting it is to see Mark clinging to Angstrom's arm.

After his plan fails, Angstrom approaches his technicians and gives them instructions to mend his wound so he can bring back all of the Invincibles and complete this.  But the Technicians don't answer, so Angstrom lashes out angrily at how their names portray them as heartless monsters and even asks if they're going to let him bleed to death.  The Technicians approach Angstrom Levy and decline to treat him. When Angstrom tries to run away, the technology on his head gives off a painful vibration that knocks him to his knees. The Technicians then inform him that he has failed to fulfill his promises to them because his world is worthless to them.  Angstrom is then informed by the Technicians that he is now employed by them.  Angstrom is informed by the Technicians that if he consents, they will eventually treat his wound; however, if he declines, his body will be used for their research.

End of the War

While Atom Eve, Dupli-Kate, Immortal, Shapesmith, Black Samson, and Monster Girl were wounded in their battles against the Alternate Marks, Rex Splode, Business Baby, Hunk, and Darkwing II were among the heroes killed in combat by the end of the war.

A recovering immortal decides to start a full-fledged relationship with Kate instead of permanently giving up on being a superhero.

Homes and buildings were demolished in large numbers, leaving major cities in ruins all over the world.  Cities were leveled, including Seoul, Tokyo, New Delhi, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Paris, Moscow, London, and Sydney.  The incident claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, and the military had to move as many survivors as they could to different places.  Knowing that Angstrom's survival and his hatred for him were the main reasons behind the chaos caused by the variants, Invincible was overcome with guilt.

Before being removed, Powerplex accuses Invincible of causing the destruction, and many of the heroes feel uncomfortable around him. Powerplex attacks Invincible, but he and Kid Omni-Man render him incapacitated.  Before meeting Cecil and the Guardians of the Globe, Invincible went back to see Eve because he was so overcome with grief, rage, guilt, and frustration.  After giving everyone an update on the situation, Cecil asked Invincible to take charge of the Guardians, but he declined.  Cecil tried to reassure Invincible after everything that had transpired as he led him out of the building, but Invincible remained suspicious of him.

Participating in the city's cleanup, Invincible's brief respite would be short-lived as Conquest shows up to assess how well Invincible is doing in capturing Earth.  After feeling worn out from everything he has experienced, Invincible expresses his rage and excitement by punching something hard, which starts his battle with Conquest.
