I Thought You'd Never Shut Up


Overview


A dangerous stranger shows up while the world is still in shock from the intense three-day Invincible War, pushing Mark to the edge of his abilities.


The plot

Across the city, Conquest and Invincible fight fiercely.  As the battle is televised, Conquest, a vicious belligerent rather than a representative of the Viltrum Empire, proves to be an overwhelming foe.  Oliver hurries to help, but he is soon overwhelmed and needs emergency care.

Eve discovers Mark's terrible condition after waking up in the hospital, and she enters the battle in spite of Cecil's warning about Conquest's deadly power.  As Conquest ruthlessly batters Mark along city streets and along the coast, the confrontation intensifies.  Eve resists at first, but she is ultimately overpowered—until she reappears to unleash a powerful energy blast that weakens Conquest enough for Mark to kill him with a headbutt.  After that, both heroes are admitted to the hospital.

Eve reveals that her near-fatal experience freed her from long-imposed limitations on her abilities—restrictions that had existed since birth—and enabled her to reach her full potential three days later, as Mark recovers further.

In the meantime, Cecil and Sinclair work together to reassemble his army of robots using parts taken from the multiversal Invincibles that were destroyed in combat.  It turns out that Cecil has kept Conquest's body underground under surveillance in order to gather information about the Viltrum Empire, despite Mark's orders for him to burn it.

In other scenes, the heroes come together to pay tribute to Rex after his passing.  As Angstrom is rebuilt and Battle Beast is saved from space, hints of Season 4 appear, with plans to work with the Technicians to pay off a long-standing debt.  The appearance of Darkblood, a sorcerer who is determined to call forth a strong, evil force that may be connected to Mark, in the post-credits scene foreshadows a frightening new danger.
